*1.Q- Mr Lovemore Chabata can you tell us more about yourself, when and where were you born?*

I was born bulawayo in a location called ngubanja my father used to work in bulawayo

*Year?*

1979/ 30 /12

*2Q- Where did you attend your primary, secondary schooling and in which years?*

I did my primary school in buhera Zimbabwe up to grade 3 then my father bought a place in Gokwe then we transferred to Gokwe where l competed my primary school at Mateta1 primary school and secondary school l did it at Gawa secondary school all that is in Gokwe area

*Years again Sir?*

Yoh hahahaha 1987 we moved to Gokwe from bhohera

*3.Q- Tell us how was performance in athletics during your primary and secondary levels?*

Yoh l was more of a sprinter at school no one could beat me in 100m and 200m at school 400 l used to come 1 or 2 ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚800m was a force matter

*4.Q- Do you still remember teacher or coach who identified your talent in athletics and how it started in athletics*

My teacher at school was mr mutsotsoma and Mr moyo who was more of pushing me in to sports because he could see my abilities

*5.Q- What inspires you to be an athlete?


My father was a marathon runner. Used to watch his medals and wear his clothes and Clever Chidziwa as well as Philipha Chidziwa





*6.Q- Can you give us the names of your training partners and how did they contribute for you performance in sport?*

Moses Njodzi, Shingie Badza, Prodigal Khumalo, Hatiwande Nyamande, Collen Makaza to name just a few. These guys contributed a lot towards my running   with their experiences

*7.Q- What motivated you to take running as part of your life?*

It's is an individual sport and keeps u out bad lifestyle habits and it enriches your mind with positive goals

*8.Q- Do you ever competed or won medals in provincial and national champs?*

I have represented provinces but I have never won a medal in both provincial and national level

*9.Q- Do you ever represents Zimbabwe at any international champs?*

Not at all

*10.Q- Name your first running club and tell us how you join?*

Blackrhinos under Kingston Maringe's guidance

*And your first club in S.A and Coach*

*11.Q- At what age did you start professional running in your career as an athlete?*

At 19 yrs.

*12.Q-  Who was your best coach and manager in your career as an athlete?*

Themba Mhlope

Maxed running shoes

*14.Q- What was your best meals before and after the race?*

Pasta with less spices night before and before the race brown bread  with black tea and after the race Mahewu and fruits

*15.Q- What is your best times in the following distances from: 5000m, 10km, 21km and 42km?*

14 :00,,30, 1:05, 2:28, respectively

*How many Comrades and Two Oceans Ultra Marathon have done and your best times ?*

I have done 7 comrades marathon and 3 two ocean marathons

*Best times?*

5hrs58 on comrades and 3,27 on 2 oceans

*16.Q- What is your best and worst race in your career as an athlete?*

My best race is Chatsworth 52 km which I hv won twice and worst is Iron man 65km which I won and get a vest and medal

*Which year you did 65k?*

2002

*17.Q- Name the best road race of your life time and why?*

Chatsworth cause its has challenges which I like hence I have won it twice

*18.Q- What setbacks have you encountered in your career as an athlete?*

Knee injuries

*19.Q- During this lockdowns and Covid erra how did you manage to keep focused and fit?*

I have lost focus so much cause its difficult to train without hope of racing in the near future

*20.Q- Your words on age cheating, drug use in  sport and corrupt officials.*

Age cheating does not add an value to sport and drug use will haunt your in ur old age and corrupt officials destroy hope in young athletes

*21.Q- What do you think should be done to improve athletics in Province and National level?*

Funding should be from the grassroots level were there is untamed talent and our national body should have a fund raising commite which will help in this critical issue for development

*22.Q- What's your future plans in sport?

Is to win gold at comrades

My family supports my running and my close friends I train with. Which I appreciate whole heartedly

From what you have learnt, if u were in an advisory position, What would be your suggestion to improve Zim Sport?

How do you think we can possibly attract good sponsors as athletes?

Athletes should join together and contribute to improving the lovely sport in our country

For me it's not a question, but I just want to say thanks to Mr. Chabata for being my big bro when we were in Durban, running for Chartsworth and then Harmony Gold Under Coach Cliff. Your were my pillar of support. Praying together and teaching me all those hymns. You are an amazing person bro๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
